How do differences in exposure affect English language learning? A comparison of teenagers in two learning environments

This study investigates whether potential differences in the weight of out-of-school and in-school learning environments affect acquisition L2 English by teenagers two geographical contexts, more less English-rich, with linguistic distance to English, respectively. Participants were groups 14-15-year-olds, from Denmark Spain. Language measures included a listening comprehension test, metalinguistic knowledge grammaticality judgment test. Data about out-of-classroom exposure was elicited via questionnaire. The showed that (a) Danish group attained significantly higher level all language tests except for test; (b) engaged longer activities although preference some over others similar groups; (c) types associations between different groups. These results suggest influence on aspects is related particular context which learned proficiency learner.
